Fund Development Officer

Rise seeks a professional Fund Development Manager to manage and scale its fundraising efforts as it grows and expands its operations. The Fund Development Manager will work closely with the CEO to develop and execute a fundraising plan and will be responsible for all fundraising activities undertaken by the organization. The Manager will be a core member of the Rise Leadership Team with management responsibilities of Rise’s volunteer fund development team.

The position is located in Washington, DC., with the opportunity for occasional travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Rise’s fundraising efforts, including assisting in regular crowdfunding appeals, major gift solicitation, writing grants, planned giving, strategic planning, setting and executing fundraising plans, and planning events
  • Lead efforts to identify, research, and solicit small and high dollar donations
  • Lead efforts to track and manage awards and donations, including completing all necessary applications and reports
  • Identify and maintain donor relationships, including identifying potential donors through research and evaluation, keeping detailed records of donors and contact history, ensuring donor information is accurate
  • Oversee volunteer members of Rise's Fund Development team
  • Prepare all necessary financial and donor reports, including the Rise annual report and tax filings
  • Such other duties as may from time to time be assigned in the CEO’s discretion

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Non-Profit Management or related field
  • At least 3 years of related experience in direct fundraising, donor engagement and management, grant writing, and/or program development and management, especially for a foundation or non-profit
  • Attention to detail
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, Office Suite, EveryAction or other CSM platform, Cision, and other relevant platforms
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, be adaptable, and learn on the fly.
  • Experience participating in or working at a leading tech accelerator
  • Familiarity with the legislative process and the current state of American political leadership
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment and with volunteers, especially in a management capacity, are preferred
  • Empathy, compassion, a sense of humor, and an unflinching drive to make the world a better place are all required

Accelerator Director

Rise seeks an Accelerator Director to create and manage the end-to-end experience of the Rise Justice Labs accelerator and directly support our social justice campaigns on the path to passing their first law. The Director will be a core member of the Rise’s Leadership Team with supervisory responsibilities.

The position is located in Washington, DC., with the opportunity for occasional travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the end-to-end accelerator experience for participating campaigns, including programming and events
  • Support campaigns directly day-to-day as they learn and execute our Hope-a-nomics framework
  • Maintain Rise Justice Labs’ network of mentors, coaches, and partners
  • Select campaigns to participate in the accelerator, including sourcing, conducting interviews, and diligence
  • Represent Rise Justice Labs at relevant events and conferences

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in a political or issue advocacy campaign or in a high-growth startup
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of staff and volunteers and work collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to set, prioritize, and track goals and metrics
  • Deadline-conscious and high performing in a fast-moving environment
  • Detail-oriented, as well as the ability to be resourceful and work independently  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience participating in or working at a leading tech accelerator

APPLY FOR THE ACCELERATOR DIRECTOR POSITION

Program Assistant

Rise seeks a qualified individual to join its growing Communications and Organizing teams working to protect the civil rights for sexual assault survivors everywhere. The Program Assistant will wear several hats in a fast-paced and often-changing work environment. The Program Assistant will serve as a regular point of contact for external communications and manage the daily operations of Rise’s social media accounts. This position will also aid in managing Rise’s state legislative campaigns and coordinating Rise’s volunteer base around the country.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Rise’s Communications and Organizing teams implementing communications projects and strategies.
  • Create graphics and content for our social media accounts and use in internal and external materials and communications
  • Create content for and manage regular external communications, including a regular Rise newsletter
  • Assist in developing, editing, and reviewing internal documents and briefing materials, including informational memos, internal policies and procedures, and training materials
  • Serve as a contact with media outlets and personalities, including developing and delivering story pitches and handling media requests
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and coaching of Risers in states for Rise Up campaigns adhering to our values and mission
  • Monitor progress towards metrics for Rise Up state campaigns
  • Provide direct support to the CEO in media events, including staffing, research, briefings, and preparation of materials for events where media is present, and researching and pursuing opportunities for media
  • Emphasize and contribute to a strong professional culture among Rise employees and volunteers focused on accountability, specific goals, utilization of best practices,
  • Complete additional projects and other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 3+ years of work experience in communications or organizing positions, especially in political, nonprofit, or campaign organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to pitch stories to media outlets
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and Adobe suite
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management and content creation
  • Strong organizational, planning and management skills  
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others
  • Graphic design experience preferred
  • Organizing experience and knowledge of the federal and state legislative processes preferred
