COVID-19 “Stay at Home” policies have spiked sexual and domestic violence by up to 3 times their average across the world. This increase takes place in a constricted medical and legal landscape whose resources and rules change daily. Support for survivors is necessary now more than ever. Sexual Assault Awareness Month presents many opportunities for the public to understand this pandemic within a pandemic and take action around this crisis. We request your help through the below options
- Option 1: Post an Information Flyer linked here in your store window and/or your by your cash register and pickup station that promotes the rights available to survivors of sexual assault.
- Option 2: Become a Survivor Safe Haven by using Code “Rise Up 19” Promote the Survivor Safe Haven code, “Rise Up 19” by posting this Code Word Flyer in the window of your establishment stating the code. If an individual in crisis comes to purchase or pickup goods and uses the Survivor Safe Haven code, “Rise Up 19”, call the RAINN hotline from your facility’s phone and give the survivor the phone (800-656-HOPE). Train your staff to know that if someone says “Rise Up 19”, provide them a telephone to call the RAINN.org hotline
Below are the rights Rise has codified in each state. Click each state below to see the bill containing rights ensured to sexual assault survivors. Some states have not yet passed the Survivors Bill of Rights.
